What is The Second Mile?
A Christian Ministry, focus on promoting for 40 days in the streets of Mexico City, the unconditional love of God to the people.
What do we do?
Focusing on the people that for any reason are homeless in Mexico City:
Live with them.
Invest time, friendship and love.
Follow God’s love through charity.
Engage people to a better quality life.
Who are we?
There are many faithful Christians in Mexico City making efforts to improve the life of other people; trying daily to show God’s love.
I am just one more, leaded by Jesus Christ. Mi name is Saul Flores and I am a student at a Christian College.
If you are, just like me, one more Christian; I want to invite you to live it up. To walk The Second Mile in the streets for these 40 days, and to share the LIFE that God has pour on us, with those who need it the most.
Why “The Second Mile”?
Many people argue that Mexican citizens pay high taxes to the government to help ourselves as society, and that this help should include homeless people. At the same time, many people complain that homeless live like that because they want to.
There are many things that sometimes we see as injustices. But Jesus said: “If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles” Mt. 5:41 (NIV). He says that because “Romans could legally demand local inhabitants (Jews) to provide forced labor if they wanted (as in Mt 27:32) and were known to abuse this privilege. Yet “going the extra mile” represents not only submitting to unjust demands but actually exceeding them-showing our oppressors that we love them and take no offense*“
The principle that Jesus is teaching, is the same that he repeats in the next verses (Mathew 5:42,46-47)
To make an extra effort, based on love, shows that Christian attitude makes a difference.
The Second Mile is not a new concept. It is a Christian principle that can change Mexico City.
